I set up a new account in Outlook, how can I test the account settings?

1. On the Tools menu, click Email Accounts…
2. Select View or change existing e-mail accounts, click Next.
3. Select your email account, and click Test Account Settings...

This attempts to login to your account, and send a test email. If you get a green check beside each step, your settings are correct.
